Today we will see a brief introduction on what SNMP is. Simple Network Management Protocol or SNMP is basically used as the transport protocol for network management. A general Network management consists of some network management stations communicating with network elements such as routers, hosts, printers or servers. The agent is the software on that network element (router, host, printer) which runs the network management software.
