| Texte | Le mois dernier, j'ai convoqué le deuxième atelier interdisciplinaire sur la réimagination de la démocratie ( iword 2023 ) à la Harvard Kennedy School Ash Ash AshCentre.Comme avec iword 2022 , l'objectif était de réunir un ensemble diversifié de penseurs et de praticiens pour parler de la façon dont la démocratie pourrait êtrerepensé pour le XXIe siècle.
Ma pensée est très large ici.La démocratie moderne a été inventée au milieu du XVIIIe siècle, en utilisant la technologie du milieu du XVIIIe siècle.Si la démocratie était inventée à partir de zéro aujourd'hui, avec les technologies d'aujourd'hui, cela serait très différent.La représentation serait différente.L'arbitrage serait différent.L'allocation et la réallocation des ressources seraient différentes.Tout serait différent, car nous aurions une technologie beaucoup plus puissante sur laquelle et aucun système hérité à s'inquiéter ...
Last month, I convened the Second Interdisciplinary Workshop on Reimagining Democracy (IWORD 2023) at the Harvard Kennedy School Ash Center. As with IWORD 2022, the goal was to bring together a diverse set of thinkers and practitioners to talk about how democracy might be reimagined for the twenty-first century. My thinking is very broad here. Modern democracy was invented in the mid-eighteenth century, using mid-eighteenth-century technology. Were democracy to be invented from scratch today, with today\'s technologies, it would look very different. Representation would look different. Adjudication would look different. Resource allocation and reallocation would look different. Everything would look different, because we would have much more powerful technology to build on and no legacy systems to worry about... |
